Gravel Garden
Gravel Garden
The site is a large south facing garden in South London. The clients had visited Derek Jarman’s garden in Dungeness and wanted a version in their own town garden.
The informal layout sits in direct contrast with their 20th century modernist house.
Plants such as Erysimum cheiri, Eschscholzia californica, Santolina chamaecyparissus, have been used in reference to Jarman’s coastal garden and are supplemented with ornamental grasses - Miscanthus sinensis - to add height along with plants to attract wildlife such as Rudbeckia fulgida var. deamii and Verbena bonariensis.
